Challenge

Prove a 5G future use case: bidirectional volumetric presence that stays sharp on light-field displays, requiring low-latency, high-fidelity networking beyond typical video chat.

Approach

Captured users with Intel RealSense depth cameras, fused RGB+D into volumetric textures, and rendered in Unity for Looking Glass displays. Used NDI for lossless video transport to preserve depth-aligned textures, and piped it over a stable 5G link to keep motion-to-photon latency low.

Outcome

Delivered a partner-ready demonstration of 3D telepresence that clearly showed how 5G latency and bandwidth enable new communication product categories.
