Challenge

Prove a 5G future use case: bidirectional volumetric presence that stays sharp on light-field displays, requiring low-latency, high-fidelity networking beyond typical video chat.

Approach

Captured users with Intel RealSense depth cameras, fused RGB+D into volumetric textures, and rendered in Unity for Looking Glass displays. Used NDI for lossless video transport to preserve depth-aligned textures, and piped it over a stable 5G link to keep motion-to-photon latency low.

Outcome

Delivered a compelling demo where two people could see each other in 3D across the network, illustrating how 5G bandwidth/latency can unlock volumetric communications.
