Challenge

Needed to show, not tell, that 5G beats 4G/Wi‑Fi for high-stakes teleop (bomb disposal, surgery). Latency, jitter, and packet loss tolerance had to be felt live.

Approach

In 2019 built a Valve Index hand-pose streamer with three relays (5G lab server, 4G server, Wi‑Fi) to compare paths. Wrote a custom UDP stack for joint data and quickly saw what production-grade reliability would demand around packet loss and jitter handling.

Outcome

Side-by-side demos made the 5G advantage obvious to Fortune 500 execs and helped drive carrier partnership conversations.
